Hi guys,
Relatively new to the forum. Hopefully somebody can help. I keep searching for info but I'm just getting more and more confused!

I have a 1999 Ranger 3.0 FFV 4x4 auto. The trans is getting pretty 'tired' so I was looking into new ones. I found a 5sp trans that fits 01-05 3.0 4x4 Rangers instead, and I'm wondering if this will work??!!

Now, I believe what I have now is the 4r44e (4sp). This newer trans would likely be the 5r44e (which is a 5sp). As far as I can tell they are mechanically identical. I want to just order it, but once I do I cant return it if it doesn't work, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Would I have to get a different ECM or anything?

Hey thanks a lot! Good read, but do you think this would apply to the '44' versions of the transmissions? Thanks again!
