Welcome to TRS :)

If you have a Starter RELAY on the inner fender, aka starter solenoid, it should have a smaller wire on a smaller stud, stud is labelled "S"
"I" stud, if there is one, is no longer used.

When thae "S" stud gets 12volts the starter relay will close and starter motor will activate, key on or off won't matter so BE CAREFUL.
So just use a short wire from battery positive to that small stud and you won't "burn out" relays(solenoids).

The wire at that stud is usually a red/blue stripe wire, it comes from a Neutral Safety switch as said above.
Clutch pedal switch on manual trans
Transmission switch on automatic

When you turn the key to START, 12volts is sent to Neutral switch, if this switch is CLOSED then that 12volts goes on to the starter relay's "S" stud, which closes that relay and starter motor activates
