My 2006 2.3 is ailing, I need help please!
It starts & idles just fine, Runs up thru the gears just fine,
Seems that when I apply heavier throttle in the higher gears, it wants to
mis, spit, sputter what ever you want to call it. I can acheive 60-70 mph
if I do it slowly. At 60, in 5th if I mash it, it will cough...
Not getting any check engine lights or codes on the Scan gauge

Really wondering about fuel injectors

these are things I have done recently
air filter
fuel filter,
spark plugs
wires, ( a cheaper set, all I could get in town)
Seafoam in the gas tank.

Have not changed
Coil

Thanks for any input
Dave

Fuel filter would have been my first stop for those symptoms.

Next would be fuel pressure, should hold above 60psi at higher RPMs.

Not sure coil(s) could do that.

There is a WOT(wide open throttle) relay that should override O2 sensors and set rich mix, when foot is to the floor.

I would recommend getting better wires first. On my lima 2.3 I had a misfire so I changed the wires. Bought a cheap set and had the same problem. Bought a good set and the problem was solved. I personally like omnispark wires. I picked them up at oreillys last time.

Also I used to have a duratec 2.3 and I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a bad plug wire which was letting the spark jump straight to the head under heavy-er acceleration.
