Sorry it's been a while - to be honest I didn't end up doing anything. The noise sort of went away and I never figured out what the deal was. I'm still looking into having the transmission replaced eventually however, because I don't want whatever issue it was to come back while I'm far from home. And also I'd like to replace it with a 4x4 unit so I can bolt up a transfer case, but that's a whole nuther project!I am curious what you ended up doing. I have the same manual transmission in my 4.0L 92 ranger. It won't shift into first and I am not going to rebuild myself. I have heard poor things about Jasper. Any more thoughts on the issue in regards to brands? Not too worried about the price, I just want a quality reman and would like to not have to do it twice. Although, now I am thinking of throwing a junk yard tran in for the time and having mine remanned.
