I've had my truck since new. How can you tell when you've had it too long?
1. Painted twice.
2. Rebuilt a/c twice.
3. Third set of tires and they are almost worn out.
4. Second set of brakes almost gone.
5. Second set of shocks worn out.
I've never kept any vehicle for 18 years. I guess this one's a keeper. Actually 18 years 4 months and 5 days.
I had to replace the slave cylinder 2.5 years ago and went ahead and replaced the clutch too. The old clutch had 1/16" wear compared to the new clutch. I kept the old one just in case. I still have the original FR480 spare tire. It holds air and is not weather cracked by I have my doubts as to it's safety.
Yesterday I had to replace the third battery. It was only 7.5 years old.
Every time I have to replace a part again I get sticker shock. When did batteries get so expensive? I do remember $7 shocks. I do remember $2 wiper blades too. Here in the desert new wipers are a must about every six months. Those are up 400%.
Yup, I've had the truck too long....
