My 2009 has the TPMS system in the silver painted 7 spoke wheels. My 2004 doesn't have them to the best of my knowledge.

2-1/2 weeks ago I bought a set of four 2002 7 spoke silver wheels with tires on them for $50. All tires hold air and two of them have useable tread.

Last Monday I got for free another set of four 2006 7 spoke silver wheels with tires on them. All tires hold air and two of them barely have useable tread.

Sunday (today) I start removing parts off of a 2000 with four 7 spoke chrome wheels with tires on them. I'm getting a bunch of other parts too.

Can TPMS be swapped over to other wheels easily?
Between my two Rangers, my 16' car hauling trailer having two sets of plain wheels and tires,,, and other sets I have around I have 38 to 40 15" steel wheels with the Ranger bolt pattern on them.

The sensors are mounted on bands inside the wheel, basically just a jumbo hose clamp. They aren't hard to swap around, but the tire needs broken down, and then rebalanced.

The vehicle side needs a lot of work, pretty much not worth doing because you would have to take the smart junction box, dash wiring, and instrument cluster.

2008+ is when TPMS came into effect.

Some vehicles had it in 01 but wasn't required by law until september of 2007. Even still by vehicle weight some 3/4 and 1 ton trucks didn't have it years later, And somehow I have seen new VW's without the T.P.M.S. sensors in the tires.

It is a giant P.I.T.A. for us guys that have to deal with them. The Government said it had to be done but didn't say how so everyone did it their own way. Manufacturers seem to be getting their act together and are mostly using the rubber snap in valve with the sensor screwed to the end of it.

Just another reason not to buy a newer car. Stupid government and their stupid mandated shit.

What purpose does tpms serve. None at all. Its damn annoying now that my parents van has air instead of nitrogen. Cold mornings like today it will think their low. As it warms up or after an hour on the highway it goes out. Way to sensitive.

T.P.M.S is for the retards out there that shouldn't be allowed to breed because they're to D@#N DUMB.

I usually set pressures a couple of pounds high on vehicles equipped with T.P.M.S. just so that doesn't happen.

And I agree totaly about the Government mandated B.S.

My bad, yes 07 Rangers did have it.

My 2008 f350 (job 1 early build) does not have it.
