I bought a 2005 Ranger a few years back. I always thought it was an XLT, but as I was looking over its equipment, it looks more like it's an FX4. Almost everything that comes on an FX4 is either standard of available as an option on the XLT. It does not have the FX4 decal on the bed, but it may have been repainted at one point. It does have the leather wrapped steering wheel and the black wheel lip moldings, which the 2005 brochure on this web site says that the XLT does not have. It has the R7 (8.8-inch, 4.10 limited slip) axle, 4.0 V6 and automatic, 255/70x16 OWL tires and the same wheels as the FX4. Is there any way to tell if this is an FX4, say by the serial number or something? Any information is welcome. Thanks.
