Found this wrecked 05 adrenaline sport trac on copart and was wondering what everyone thought? B.I.N is $675 but after the fees and what not it’ll probably be closer to $900.... has 125k on it

What is the difference in "adrenaline" vs "non-adrenaline" models?

The Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin package looks more aggressive than the other Sport Tracs with a prominent front air dam with fog lamps and a black crosshatched grille. The rear fascia is revamped and includes a single-pipe, dual-tip exhaust. Custom 20-inch wheels sit inside vented front fenders. The interior is finished in Dark Charcoal with perforated leather seats
Looks like a roll over so engine "might" be OK, but hard to say so I would pass on the whole thing

If it ain't broke, break it.
I wouldn't pay $675 for it unless the motor will start and you can tell the transmission would actually work. Obviously a test drive is out of the question but you should be able to tell if it works.

One can make an educated assumption that it was running and driving... vehicles hardly ever roll themselves over and pop their airbags while they’re parked in HomeDepot’s lot.

+1 ^^^

And thats one of the problems with buying used engines and automatic transmissions
You have alot of rotating MASS in a running driving engine and transmission, sudden stops or sudden changes in direction will cause problems as that MASS tries to maintain its previous direction
Bearings and shims are good but they have limits when stressed in an accident or rollover, and in a roll over you can only hope the inertia switch did its job and killed the engine because engine would run on without oil as would transmission

Yep, no guarantee he didn't tear hell out of the drivetrain in a serious rollover.

That thing is worth scrap value at best.... offer them 50 bucks to save them the trouble of putting it in the shredder.

If all you want is the engine, 900 will get you a good known running engine with a warranty...

While this is true, it could have been running like sh!t when it was wrecked. I see smoke out the tailpipe of a lot of cars that are not wrecked. I had a buddy who drove a Cadillac @ 4qts of oil a day. Clean ass Cadillac, looked beautiful, but when he started it, it made the worst metal on metal sound a car can make. Drove it 60 miles one way to work (Marianna to Tallahassee) everyday, then 60 miles home. If it were to get wrecked on the street and somebody bought it for the motor, they would be in a steaming pile of mess.

Disclaimer:
I never said it ran good... just that it ran.

Ya without hearing it run it’s kind of a crap shoot I would agree. I’ve purchased wrecked and rolled trucks before with a pretty good success rate, but that one is a hard roll

Oddly enough that kind of thing does happen often in the parking lot of the Lowe's across the street from where I work.

Interestingly these incidents tend to coincide with my lunch break.

Weird.
