I learned a long time ago that buying cheap tires is not cheap. I have had cheap tires that I had to have balanced 2-3x a year to be able to drive on the highway, and cheap tires that only lasted 15k miles, and cheap tires that got flat spots sitting over the weekend, etc. so now I only buy the good stuff. Tires are not a place to cheap out.

Well, after a long bit of research and taking everything from this thread into account, I've decided to go with the Firestone Destination A/T2s in 235/75/R15. There's just about everything I'm looking for: reputable brand, good tread depth, light weight (29lbs), and I've seen nothing but good things about them. I also prefer some visual interest in the sidewall, so having outlined lettering is a plus. It'll be a while before I replace my current tires, but I'll follow up somewhere on this forum when I do.

Im in the minority here but ive had a couple sets of the goodyear wrangler radials over the years and never had any issues.

That said i usually run BFG

Ive has 2 sets, not had a issue with either but they weren’t ran during the cold months & were stored inside when not used. Have coopers on my escape & like those. My favorite tire is long out of production. It was a pep boys house brand- “dakota futura”. Ive had 3 sets of those & loved them, the tread was very similar to the bfg a/t ta.

I see lots of them around here. At least they are better than whatever the "house" brand at Walmart is now. I've never cared for them, I just prefer a more aggressive tread. Gotta mention my favorite tires for the price tho. Kenda. It's all I buy these days. Got 'em on both trucks, Brittney's car, and the bike.
I love the Kenda tires. I've ran them for years on my dirt bikes. I actually ran a set of their MTs on my truck when I first bought it. Performed great but sold them.and went bigger with around 15k on them. I was looking at anew set recently and they have almost doubled in price o er the past few years. Not a cheap option anymore. But they are a dang good tire from my experience.

Nothing wrong with Firestones. I ran their Transforce on my F250 for a while and they were a great tire. I have Destination MT-2's on it now and they are obnoxiously loud but are wearing great.

I had some on my 1998. I was a decent tire. More of a highway terrain than an all terrain but they handled well and drove decent in the snow. They got a little, under powered Ranger with an open rear differential around in bad, active snow fall and a good bit of accumulation on the road with no problem.
