Working the clutch- ankle or knee?

I’ve always locked my ankle out straight and only used my knee for all the clutch work. This is probably from always having a long footwell and needing to stretch out to depress the clutch all the way… and also having a fairly heavy clutches. No stretching room in the ranger. I’ve been getting more ankle action in lately. I don’t have too much fine control with it, but can release the clutch pretty smoothly now with ankle help.

How do yall do it?

get in a muscle car from the 60s with a 12 spring clutch. it'll kick your whole leg off the pedal.

personal preference on the pedal, do what works for you.

Clutches are for feet. Shifting is for hands.

I'm pretty sure I use mostly my knee. There may be a sight ankle action at the end of the pedal swing.

Pretty sure I use a bit of both. Knee is the major work and ankle for feathering and making sure it’s all the way up or down

I'm 6' 2" tall, riding on a worn out seat in a single cab Ranger. The clutch is a whole leg body exercise.

I too use a mix of both. Not quite 50/50, more knee, but definitely mixed.

Like you said the sitting position is important. In the F-150 it was knee.
In the mustang it was a lot of ankle.

Indeed. I feel a little weird over here using 0% ankle.

Going down is all knee. On the way up, it's ankle until I hit the friction point, then once I'm under way, knee. Essentially, ankle when I need finesse. Otherwise, knee.
