You are saying it takes a pc3200 memory? I probly got a 1 gb stick. It should work okay with 3 gb. Let me know what you are using. My dual core vista will only be able to use 3 gb of 4 gb memory, so 3 will be about all yours can use.
My video needs replaced.I may have a disk for a dell will look but it may be 98 or win2k.

It's actually pc4000 and it won't work with mismatched RAM...that's why I tried the 512 mb stick after I got the 2 gigs in and working...but I read the specs and it says it has to match...so I can either use 2 x 2 gig or 2 x 1 gig...

I've got an XP pro disk with SP2 but it isn't Dell so I'm hoping to find one that I can use with SP3 and Dell specific...

Yeah, it was a surprise...the most I'd hoped for was to find some RAM that I could use...but a complete system that actually works...

Okay you mean pc 4200? I am using 1- 2gb stick and 1- 1 gb stick same speed and it works. I didnt know they had to be same size?I may have a pc4200 stick let me know if you got that speed and I can send 1 if I can find it?

yeah, PC4200 512 mb was the original...the store didn't have any of that size or spec so they actually sold me PC2-6400 at 800 mhz (the system is rated to 533 FS Bus)...it was backward compatible with the system and works great...

So now if I want to pair it I need the same stick specs...pc2 6400 800 mhz...since it's fairly recent I haven't found any other than paying the new sticker price...

Thanks anyway...if you had offered two weeks ago I would have jumped at it...I don't actually like buying stuff when I can find it free in the junk piles...or get it from a friend...

I put the ECC RAM up for sale in an ad but haven't gotten any replies yet...the ad is free and it can sit there for a year or two until I find a buyer...
