What are these wires and plug for. Its off the harness that is with the oil sensor, and the two wire that are cut from the plug are the neutral safety/ clutch. Would any of them have anything to do with the motor running poorly only when Manuel trans goes into 3rd gear seems to run like its only on 3 cylinders.

That's the plug for the transmission range sensor, if the vehicle had an automatic transmission.

It looks there like someone is trying to use a harness for an auto to run a vehicle that has a manual. The two wires that are cut need to be removed from the plug (I personally do it by cutting them) and then spliced to each other to enable the starter to operate from the key when using the auto harness with a manual.

Two of them (I think the purple ones) are for the reverse lights. The other two are for transmission things.
