my passenger side wiper lever thats inside that little grill in front of the windshield keeps popping off, the passenger side wiper lever sits on the outside of the wipermotor shaft or wutever, it lasts like maybe 30 passes before it pops off then i just have the driver side wiper going, i usually take a clothes hanger and stick it down into the grill behind the hood to put that lever back on but im guessing that clip that is suppose to hold it all on there is messed up, my question is how the hell should i do this? does that piece thats in between the hood and windshield even come off so i can fix this problem?

There should be a retainer clip that snaps into place on the motor arm...if you don't have one or it doesn't sit properly maybe take a trip to the junkyard to pick up a new arm...or one that has the clip functional...

my '83 has a ball-and-socket kind of arrangement. there is a plastic insert that goes into the flat shaft, then the ball on the arm pushes into that. the insert kept coming out of the hole in the shaft. i used some permatex adhesive sealant to hold that plastic insert into the shaft. so far so good. will know for sure after this coming winter gets here how well this fix holds up.
i didn't see any retaining clip behind the cover laying anywhere around. might try finding something like that if the permatex gives out.

Ah, well, the 83 models may have used a different method of keeping them on...but I like the retainer clips...easy to remove if you have to...not like my Zuki, that has a nut that I don't have a wrench for...

The '83 shop manual shows retainer clips. Maybe yours are just missing?

No; you gotta work it through the two small removeable panels, and then by pulling the motor. Copy this page:
