How did you guys attach your winch bumpers on your 3rd gen(93-97) rangers? Did you use the factory bumper brackets? I had a chance to look at a ranger yesterday without the front bumper on, and the brackets didn't look like they'd be up to the abuse that the winch/tow points will put on them. I saw on earlier models where guys just cut off the crumple zone but that's not possible on these trucks. So what'd you guys do? Post up pics if you've got em. And please only post if you USE your bumper.

I made mine wrap around the factory mounts, and it uses them as well as the holes in the crumple zone. I cleaned up the frame horn ends and welded them on where the stamping hangs through.

Not sure if this helps, but my Warn Trans4mer mount uses bolts and plates that go through the holes of the crumple zone (click for bigger pic):

It has held up well (even through trying to pull a well-stuck Chevy out of the mud while dragging a crewcab F-350 hooked behind me sideways)

i cut off the factory bumper mounts...then "plated" my crumple zones with 3/16" plate

then i drilled for three 1/2" bolts to mount my bumper

here it is finished, and yes it gets used ( have pulled out F-150's and a 3/4 ton chevy ) along with the shackle mounts and skid plate made from 1/4" plate

Thanks for the pics guys. I didn't mean to come off harsh with the "using your bumper" comment, I just know some guys really yank on their stuff and I'd rather hear from them. Keep em comin.
