02” 3.0 gas. I recently installed a new fuel pump, and the engine will not start. It has spark and fuel pressure 60psi. I have replaced the fuel filter, drained the tank and added new fuel, disconnected the fuel line to the injectors and pumped out about 1 liter of fuel. I removed the 3 easy to get to injectors and ran carb cleaner through then to verify they were not clogged (I was lazy and figured the motor should at least try to fire with 3 clean injectors) nothing. It will fire with stater fluid but dies once that has burned off. Without starter fluid it just cranks and doesn’t even try to fire. Any ideas???

Pull the codes from the computer. If the computer does not think the engine is turning, it will not activate the injectors. There may be a code for this in the computer that could help you troubleshoot this problem.

Easier test, just watch the CEL(check engine light) on the dash, it should come on with key on, then go OFF when cranking engine, that means computer is getting a good timing signal from crank sensor, which is why you have spark

Elephant in the room is PATS
PATS(passive anti-theft system) disables fuel injectors if unknown key is use to start engine, but spark still works
BUT...........there should be a rapid flashing THEFT light on the dash if that is happening

THEFT light should come on and then go OFF when key is first turned on, do you see that?
Just seeing if bulb is working

If THEFT light is flashing leave key on and wait 45-60 seconds and it will start to flash a 2 digit code, 11 to 16
So one flash short pause, then 1 to 6 flashes, longer pause and repeat

Long shot
On the 3.0ls the Cam synchro units could fail, this would prevent oil pump from working, so software was added to kill the engine and cause no restart if there was no Cam sensor signal
BUT............there would be codes for Cam sensor issue, even a flashing CEL in some years

Ron, everything is functioning as you described. CEL and Theft performs as they should. Past repairs as related to what you described were the cam sensor (this was a few years ago) and the crank pickup sensor (more resent and I cannot remember if I drove it since install) I was getting codes for those and needed to clear to get this thing smogged. What/how should I check in those areas?
Also today I did pull the intake runner off and cleaned the other 3 injectors. Checked them for continuity, put power to them and ran carb cleaner through them.

Well from all that's been described you are down to a bad computer(PCM)

You can confirm by cranking the engine over a few times and pulling any spark plug, tip should be WET with fuel
If not then no injector pulse from PCM
Odd to have a PCM fail but not unheard of
(double check that Cam sensor is plugged in, top rear of engine)

In 2002 PATS is inside the PCM, so you need to get 1 or 2 new/used PATS keys with the new/used PCM, and have them cut to match your ignition/door locks
Pull out the ignition cylinder using current key and take cylinder and new keys to locksmith
or
A mobile locksmith can come out and using a laptop add your current keys to the new/used PCM

2002 PCM controls spark and injectors
50/50 test shows spark is working, engine starts
But stalls so no fuel is coming out of any of the injectors
So PCM issue

Its possible, and you should test it, but there is just ONE 12volt wire that feeds all 6 injectors
If that 12volt wire has been cut or corroded then all injectors would be off
It comes from the PCM Relay in engine fuse box, PCM is powering up so the relay is working, so it would have to be something specific to that one red 12volt wire that daisy chains from one injector to the next

Cranked it, pulled the spark plug and it was wet. I checked the cam sensor plug and it was secure, the crank sensor plugs clip is broken but it was fully seated. It almost sounds like it wants to start but won’t.

Then someone pulled a dirty trick on you and that's not gasoline in the tank

See if spark plug tip burns with match or lighter

If injectors are adding "fuel" , a liquid, lol
And engine starts by adding fuel manually but then dies

Only conclusion is its not "fuel" that injectors are adding

You know that’s what I suspected, my truck sat since November, I did drain all the fuel last week and added 91 octane, but that gas does not smell like anything I remember. Clear blue in color and very mild smell, soaked my shoulder when changing the filter (old gas that day) and a few hours later no smell of gas...

I’d like to thank you all for your help, it is running.
today I pulled the fuel pump and completely drained the tank, wiped out 99% of the gas, there was definitely some water (?) in the tank, two layers of liquids, Drained everything out, wiped out as much as I could reach, these last rags would not ignite to flame. Added new fuel,it took a few cranks and started, now what to do with this contaminated gold…
thank you all again.
