2.3L ('02-'11) will not idle

anybody know compression specs for the 2.3L?

this is the intake flapper control gizmo, 2002 2.3 manual on a stand.
there is an actuating rod that runs thru the intake, it's bushings wear out and rattle.

I would be more concerned with the variance between cylinders than actual numbers.
as long as the oil consumption is good the rings are OK.
a vacuum gauge will tell you if a valve is leaking, reading will jump all over the scale.

put in new plugs, same issue/no change. moving on the fuel injectors/fuel pump

Those sure are some odd pressure numbers.... either your guage is horrible or you need to be running 120 octane jet fuel.

found it! the plug kicked out on the intake

wonder what caused it to pop out like that.... I know nothing about the newer 2.3 engines so this had me baffled from the get go. Is it running good now?

i do not know why the plug pops out. their is a thread on somebody's popping out and replacing with a brass plug. i rtv'd mine back in
