Hello first timer here... I plan to replace my 2.9 with an automatic to a 302 with a 4 speed. I bought a 1888 f150 I want to replace everything diff to diff. I'm concerned about clutch issues. I'm wondering if the pedal assembly from the f150 will fit in my ranger. If anybody that's done this before could pass on some knowledge is be greatful.

No, you will need a pedal assembly for a Ranger, as close to your year as you can find.

They changed the clutch position switch over the years if you plan on using it, it gets more complicated to make it work the more you stray from your trucks model year.

Second gens (89-92) may work, I would stay with first gen stuff to be safe (83-88)

Even an 88 clutch pedal won't be the same.

You have a thread somewhere (I couldn't find it) where you go into the nitty gritty of the different assemblies, what is different between them?

The 83 to 87 arm is pretty straight, because it activates a switch mounted up high. In 88 they moved to the triple-function switch that goes around the push-rod of the clutch master cylinder. That later arm is crooked. The straight arm will pop the triple-function switch off the rod, and the crooked one will miss the earlier plunger-style clutch safety switch.

Aside from that they are perfectly interchangeable, but when I swapped out the dash and engine harnesses from my 88 parts truck into my 87 I had to take the clutch arm and switch with it because the switch style and plug are different.
