??????

when you argue about a 350 sbc vrs a ford on this site you are fighting a losing battle. Most of the guys that have the most to say have 4 or 6 crap. "I love fleet trucks"

But this conversation is in a V8 conversion forum. And people are swapping Chevy V8s into Ford Rangers so the conversation is valid. Additionally, people who are into Rangers may have other vehicles too, which may happen to have Ford or Chevy V8s.

Red86, are you the new TRS e-warrior? I didn't realize the position was open.

Many of these guys have opinions of Ford vs. Chevy, as you do.

And many of these guys have built some interesting rides. And they/we choose to post on a Ford based web forum, so you will definitely see a bias.

Why is the comparison always between a 302 and a 350 not a 351W and a 350?
:icon_rofl: How about comparing the 350 SBC to a 351C ? :icon_thumby: That's the one the SBC guys hate to run up against on a dark and lonely road.

I'm with ya on that one!
Just a lil' history lesson guys! Don't knock the smaller cubed Chevy motors, like the 283 that could be punched to 302 cubes and turn 10k and not even sneeze. I may be wrong, but I've never heard of any Ford motor that would turn those kinda R's................IMHO, the 283 & 327 were the BEST ENGINES Chevy ever built. 350's are just more available.

Not sure about boring that much but do remember them putting the 283 crank into the 327 block and ending up with that high reving 301.

ive got a 375hp 327 motor that i bought for my firebird but sold the firebird. how else could i get 375 hp into my ranger for 400 bucks? the guy i bought it from took it out of his impala to drop in a big block. he said the car did 13 flat in the quarter. should do good in a ranger. lots of people do the swaps because its whats available. personally im not a ford or chevy guy i like all brands either 4x4 or rwd.

This guy (Red86)is a total TOOL as he is going to other forums and talking shit. I came across this on RF and had to laugh as this guy is clueless. This guy has never met me or has even talked to me about my Ranger but talking about it like he know everything about it. This TOOL doent even know the color of my truck but he likes to spew SHIT from his mouth like he knows it all. This TOOL is a keyboard warrior or as Teddy said an E-warrior a real tuff guy here. Here is what he posted over at RF so you guys can have a laugh with me.

Whatever site you go to... check this guy out.

Fordmike strikes again

"WOW you sir are an innovator putting a S hitrolet into something other then a S hitrolet. You just might be on to something there and I am sure that no one ever thought of doing this swap."
(him)
Spoken like a true hero who bought a kit from a catalog to build his truck.

Now that is custom!!!!

Good job mike

to bad I had to hand make parts for my SBC swap.

We are not talking about common here.A lot of camero's didn't come with 3fittys either but one was swapped in.
Like I said people always compare the Ford engine with almost 50 cubic inches less to the chevy motor with as I quote baddad "A 4 bolt main".
As far as common goes you can get a full roller 351W out of a F-250 van (and I know where at least 3 are at soon to be 2 because 1 is heading for my engine stand for a 427 stroker build I have in mind).

Every 305 I have driven was a dog on a short leash with 3 legs.Its just a short step up from the 307 witch should have been walked out into a field under a shade tree and shot in a Mercy killing.
Late model Mustangs were faster than Camaros until they started putting 350's in them.

Dad had a fresh 305 with a RV cam in a '81 Silverado, that thing would run. 302's don't exactly have the greatest rep in a half ton for being a massive powerhouse in stock for either.

How do you suppose a 302 was in a big Monte sized car? 20-30 years ago in the 130hp glory years?

I can only imagine the heads that my 134hp 302 would turn in a '78 LTD. :icon_rofl:

=====================================
Got this info from Mor Tec............
283 = 3.875" x 3.00" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
302 = 4.000" x 3.00" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
and I know you can go .125thousants over on a 283 to get 301.99 cubes.

I think the only GM engine I would consider putting in anything other than a GM would be the 5.3 (325 ci). Have one in my full size and its been a great engine. If it were as easy as the Explorer 5.0 I would probably look into putting one in my ranger if the 3.0 ever gives up.
