I just ask a Denver machine shop what they wanted to pull, rebuild, and install the 3.0L V-6 in my 2002 4WD Ranger and they said about $5,000. I don't know how much of that was for removal and installation. Your $2,600 number may be low for a decent rebuild.

You still might ask around for a decent rebuild shop. For myself, I'd pay to freight an engine across county for quality work.

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
It's usually not a good sign when a google search of a company's name just brings up a bunch of pages of Better Business Bureau complaints.
That wasn't what showed up as my search result... when searching "Jasper Engine"

In the 6+ years I’ve been at my job, we’ve installed 8 Jasper motors, 2 Jasper transmissions, 17 Ford reman engines, and 4 Ford transmissions. We’ve had issues with 7 of the 8 Jasper engine and 1 of the 2 transmissions split the case in half.... the one engine that we didn’t have a problem with: the frame rotted out and the truck went to auction.
Hard to argue with your results though...

I've just had a totally different experience with Jasper. Right before moving to Illinois... We put a Jasper reman in a salt/plow truck. Truck is still doing what it's always done for about 7 years now.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

We did have a Jasper 6.0L diesel last 11 days past the 3 year warranty.

First two results, consumer affairs and BBB with scathing reviews. :dunno:
