For some this is just a picture of a dog chewing on a bone. To me this is beautiful. Why? Major has MMM, a disease that his immune system attacks his jaw muscles, and for months we had Been telling the Vet his jaw wasn't right and he wouldn't open his mouth all the way. He wouldn't even take a tennis ball in his mouth, he would grab it by the fuzzy hairs.

Now he is actively chewing on a bone I bought him over a year ago. To me this is a beautiful picture of a dog that has recovered from a bad bout of an immune disorder. I smiled for over a half hour watching him just chew on a piece of rawhide.

I'm not sure of the official name but he is a short hair St. Bernard. He is just under 2 yrs old and has topped out at 240 lbs.

Perhaps the picture is routine, but the accompanying story makes it, and your shared experience, beautiful. May he have many years of happy life and dutiful companionship ahead of him.

Yes short hair = smooth coat
Long hair = rough coat

that terminology is used with other breeds also. Beautiful dog. Mine were rough coats and detangling and dematting hair was a big project.

Went to the fall festival here yesterday. I've seen the dark sunflowers but always assumed they were dyed. But saw these different varieties growing at the farm that hosts the event.

Was just moving some data around on my old phone. These are from a couple years ago when I rescued my old French car from France. Not sure if this violates the spirit of the thread but I'll post them. I've got lots more if anyone's interested in Europe photos.

Dunkirk France - yep, that Dunkirk. I was there several days. Very strange - and beautiful - to see so many people enjoying that beach as a restaurant/bar/bikini spot.
