check race-dezert.com classifides. they get alot of traffic. 16" is gonna be big. im running 14s are a bit more standard. 12s are fine too depending where you put the shock.
for reference... i run king 3.0 x 14s. my (equal length beams) cycle 20" of travel with the limit straps removed. its limited to 19"
tuning isnt crazy, especially if you take notes and ask others who know. it helps when you start with a quality shock with a good piston design from the start.
just a fyi, shock prices are extremely high right now because king has a 16 week lead time and fox is around 10 weeks.
i bought my king race series 3.0 x 14 shocks used with springs for 900 dollars 6 years ago. youre lucky to find 2.5s for 1000 these days.
