I've heard a couple people say they've had good results using heat shrink tubing on a connector with broken clips, to help it stay connected.
Part of the problem with those plastic connectors, is the notch the clips slide over is to tall. It puts more stress on the clips to bend and climb over that notch to fasten. That's why whenever I buy a new plastic pigtail connector, I file down the notch
