Well im bout to go to the muffler shop tomorrow or monday.. Im gonna buy a used muffler, but dont know which one to get, he currently has the folowing:
Flowmaster 40's
Flowmaster 50's
Magnaflow (dnt know which one)
Borla (dnt know which one)

The reason for used is caused he sells it for $35 installed:D

I want a mean sound, I want it to be louder than the engine. Ive heard some that are humble and have a low tone but the engine is louder than the exhaust lol... I was thinking Flowmaster 40's but not sure.. Which one should I go with???

Oh and I have cats on BTW..

i think the 40 would be the loudest. they have a pretty aggressive tone.

+2 on the 40 def. Just have it mounted far enough behind the cab so there's no droning inside the cab.

if you are looking for a deeper tone i would look into getting bigger exhaust tubing. Before my ranger i had a 3.8l mustang and i had 3" tubing from my headers back and i have never heard another like it, it didnt have that pop or rattle that v6's tend to have. it had a deep v8 rumble. especially at around 3300 rpms it sounded amazing

I have the super 44 with 2.25" tubes. Exits right behind both rear tires and i can easily hear it in the cab but its not obnoxiously loud or anything.

This is what a super 44 sounded like on my old Ex

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul5oMpZN0ks&feature=related

That was AFTER I did the cat delete just so you know. Before it was so quiet i could barely hear it inside the the X but after words that is what it sounded like. Wasnt loud and obnoxios but it was loud enuph to where i could hear it inside the truck and it made every one take a look when i stepped on it, in the part of texas i was in you didnt see Explorers with that kind of exhaust or any kind of a lift lol. After that video was taken i put on a pair of 31s and did a TT and shackles ( think i did the tt and shackle before the clip but the tires not till later) and was easy to identify in that area cause all the Xs in that area were stock or had huge 22 inch rims and were homie mobiles lol.

My credo
Deengineer until it is how Blue Oval should have sold it!!
Borla

I have always loved the sound of the Borla mufflers. I would base my decision on the size of the inlets and outlets of the USED mufflers available. Those are a bunch of nice cans for $35 installed, THAT IS SWEET!

What 40 did you get, deltaflow or original??? Did you change any of the pipe size or leave it stock? A flow 40 will sound very quiet with 2" pipe, 2.25 will bring it out some and make some noise after the break in period, 2.5 pipe will make the 4L roar with either of those 2 mufflers. The original will drone inside the cab as the deltaflow will be more quiet, but kick ass on the outside.

Checking the cats is not to difficult of a job.
I got the original 40 si/so. 2'' pipe from catback, sux i know, got it with that pipe.. How can I check the cats?? I tried the temperature method but wasnt too satisfied.

Another thing with Flowmasters, they actually do have to break in before they sound right. I have had them on a couple diffrent trucks and they all had a break in period.

Exactly. Let everyone else have to listen to it but not you.
