Howdy everyone! I haven't bought the antenna so I am still open to ideas for other antennas I should choose, but I've had good luck with FireStik in the past.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Rear bumper is probably the best place.

Rear bumper, I'd say. Problem is you gotta have a way of keeping it tied down otherwise it'll fold over and stick out the back of the rig. I tried whip antennas on magnet mounts on the roof, but low lying anything of course knocks them over. I ordered I think a 5 or 6 inch stubby antenna and have been using it the past couple years on my 88 Bronco 2 and it seems to work fine for what little I use my radio for, which here the past year has been not at all because I'm no longer getting any audio (cheap Chinese crap radio) so it needs replaced, and haven't bothered because I haven't really used the radio prior to that enough to care if it works anymore or not.

You can see it on the cab roof in the photo, its pretty small...nice thing with them you can mount a bunch of them up there and not have to worry too much about hitting them on anything.

Problem with mounting an antenna on the bumper is that the rest of the truck is in t he way of the bumper. If you are going to do that I would mount it as far to the side as possible and get as tall of an antenna as possible. To help maximize range.

If you want to use a fire stick I would mount it on a fender, that way you have more antenna above the roof.

I’ve used magnet mount whip antennas in the past. They are nice because you can use a smaller antenna with just as good/ better reception, because the whole antenna is above the truck and nothing blocks it.

Right Channel Radios has a nice selection of antennas and mounts. I’ve bought a bunch of stuff from them and always had good dealings. They also have a bunch of info on how to optimize yo it setup and tune it in.

If you are super set on the firestik I'd get the NGP version and mount it to the side of the hatch near the top. The reception won't be as good, and it will be harder to tune, but it will work.

I find the best place to mount a firestik is directly in the trash can...

Adding a trash can to your truck is a sweet mod, what else do you stash in there?

Personally I mounted my firestik on my headache rack.

But where do you mount the radio... and where do you sit?

Seems like a pretty impractical set up all around to me...

You get so many headaches that you built a rack to store them on?

You're weird!

Should have called it a hangover rack.
A hangover rack is the handle you install next to the toilet to hold onto while puking. That way you don't have to grab the bowl...

Why would a towel need a rack? That's what the floor is for.
Why would you put a towel on the towel rack? you need that for hangovers.
