Where is a reputable place to by new crate engines? My friend has a Chevy Aveo that needs an engine, its a 1.6L MFI DOHC 4 cyl. I have looked online and evidently I don't know what to search for. Thanks in advance.

He bought it used in 07 and this past January or February had the timing belt replaced at Sale Chevrolet....the timing belt pulleys exploded last week and all 16 valves are bent and the pistons are a little beat up. The guy he took it to said that it was going to cost around $2,000 to fix it. He is going to Sale sometime in the near future to see if he still has warranty. He decided to buy a new engine vs. repairing the current one if possible. What could cost so much? I had my 2.9 out of my 88 rebuilt plus the cost of new heads for under that! Is that 4 cyl really expensive or is my friend getting screwed?

it's a suzuki engine isn't it?

just have his engine fixed, it'll be fine when it's done, a crate engine will run you more than 2k.

It could be the fact that it is a newer engine that would make it more expensive...
