Well quick back ground for this ongoing project. Due to work, time and money it has been sitting for (cough, cough) 5 years now. I figure I need about 30-40 hours to finish and get it started, another 10-15 hours for all the little things not drive wise.

I bought the 96 Nissan D21 4wd in 02 with 88k on the clock. Great little truck had lots of fun wheelin' when I had a chance.

In '11 I decide to SAS it. 3-link front and rear, 12" and 14" coilovers respectively. I had it all tacked up and ready to weld, unfortunately work calls and I was in and out to sea for the next year with no time for the truck and had a local shop weld it up.

Awesome, love that gen Nissan. Its a shame they all disintegrated.

Thank you. I kind of wish I bought a 4x4 Ranger. Since getting the 91, I'm really liking the truck. Always liked the bodystyle and now that I have one, I want a 4WD one. So as time moves along, I'll search for one and make it my DD and fix it up.

I like them rear side windows. They look expensive to replace though.

I think in my head I just associate nissans with toyotas which rust sooooo much worse than anything else. That thing looks super clean though. Plus it has a paint job that reminds me of @Jim Oaks's truck so i like it even more lol.

Never broke one so I'm not sure of price. But junkyards aren't that bad.

Every vehicle rusts. It just depends on the owner if they want to leave the salt crap on the vehicle or not. Thankfully WA doesn't salt roads, they use gravel and cinders. I was going after the 88 Nissan Desert Runner scheme. I haven't seen @Jim Oaks truck.

Just keep it away from New England, those last about 3 years in the salt.

Yes but Toyota literally recalled frames for rust... they dissolved like tissue paper. Waaaay beyond normal vehicles in the rust belt. Brand new Toyotas had massive structural damage from rust within a year even in non road salt areas. Even Model T's didn't do that.

You should have seen all the frames piled up in the field behind our local Toyota dealer. Amazingly, the problem was never considered newsworthy by the national media. Our local station had a story about it, though, they observed a frame being inspected by the dealer and filmed it. The tech raised the "truck" on a lift and looked it over with a light, if there weren't any holes in the suspect areas, he tapped on it with a 12 oz body hammer and if it didn't go through, the "truck" was pronounced safe and returned to the customer. If I held a sharp punch against a Ford frame and the biggest guy in my shop could punch a hole by hitting it with a sledge hammer, I'd say the frame was weakened. There are no stats for how many people died in accidents because their previously inspected Toyota frame buckled or broke in an accident.
