Mine is gone. It was removed when my 2003 Ranger was repainted. It would be a good idea to get it replaced. I noticed there were several sites on the internet. have you done this? And if so, how did it work out?

If they do that new, Marti auto works is probably about the only one I'd trust.

The first problem is that you need to know the info from the original to put in the new one. A company like Marti has access to all of the Ford records, but you have to pay for it.

I haven't gotten one for a newer vehicle, but went through Marti for build records and a warranty tag for my 68 F-100.

Like I said, I don't know if they do them for vehicles that new.

I don't think Marti does stuff that new. Your local Ford dealer can order one of those for you. You will have to prove ownership (if they are doing their job correctly.)

The VIN is on that decal so you better have to prove ownership. Whoever removed it is a knobhead.

...and that is incorrect. At least it is incorrect in the United States.

The tag in the door jamb is a warranty tag, not a VIN plate. It is a quick easy information reference, it is not required to prove anything about the vehicle. Those labels get removed or painted over all the time. Pretty common if a vehicle has been repainted or a door replaced for it to either be missing completely or not matching the vehicle.

The only VIN location on the cab that matters regarding proof of ownership or vehicle identity is the one behind the windshield. There are a few other VINs STAMPED into metal around the vehicle that should match if someone decides to look further, but the one on the dash behind the windshield is the one that matters where the Title is concerned.

Having said that things can be different on older vehicles, particularly on trucks where the title and VIN are tied to the frame rather than the cab, but that was before the time of the Ranger.

Are you aware that I was a service manager for 35 years and had to do the paper work to order those decals? Ford shipped them to the Boston district office and our rep hand carried them to our shop and watched us stick them on. If the vehicle wasn't there the decal went back to Southboro with him.

I don't care where you were a service manager, this:

The VIN is on that decal so you better have to prove ownership.
is incorrect.
..................................................................

EDIT: Unless your statement is poorly worded.

It reads to me like you are saying that he needs to have that decal inorder to to prove ownership of the vehicle because it contains the VIN number. That is incorrect.

If you are saying that he better be able to prove ownership of the vehicle in order to obtain a new sticker, it's a different matter. I wouldn't argue with you on that one. If ford is the only place to get one and he wants an official reproduction, he's probably going to have to prove ownership like you say.

If it were mine, well... Being well out of warranty and not getting any work done at dealer, I wouldn't care about having the sticker or it being official. In fact since mine is going to be built into a custom truck I probably wouldn't want it to be official, but a creative forgery (with disclaimer somewhere) that had been subtly modified to reflect vehicle modifications. Ya know like color codes, tire sizes, axle tags, that sort of stuff. Something that only those in the know would notice.

Oems will be picky about them as far as replacing them.

Read world all they are proof of is that that part of the vehicle hasn't been damaged. When my moms explorer was side swiped they put a salvage door on it and it no longer had any sticker.

Ran into a few door swapped chargers at work (with salvage titles). Service writer got them vin off the door which didn't match the car and screwed me up on ordering parts. I have her trained to go off the dash now.

I'm saying he needs to show ownership to order a decal because the VIN is on it, the decal doesn't prove ownership.

@19Walt93 That I'll agree with. That isn't what I got from your previous post.

It isn't, not really, all except I'm detail oriented, maybe even obsessed, hell bent on full restoration. So is one of my friends who mistakenly thought that sticker is more important than it is.
