Looking for a brick and mortar place. We used to have a PepBoys that was bigger than a Dollar General. It was awesome. They had about every accessory type thing you could want- an isle of floor mats, a whole display of plate frames, a shelf of hula girls, A mini Radio Shack of electronic components, a wall of CB antennas. Unfortunately, they shut it down after hurricane Michael. Autopart stores don't cut it. They only have little samples of stuff like a corner convenience store (to stick to the grocery store analogy). Sure I can order stuff, but I'm currently looking for a big 3"+ convex mirror with a swivel mount. I haven't found a satisfactory on online yet.

Pep biys did use to be great. And if you had a race team, the discounts were great for fluids and consumable stuff like that. I put the kids autocross cars as a team to get that diacount but since they only do tires and repairs now, no more "stores", they are not any different than firestone.

We dont have anywhere to go here, other than autozone, oriellys, and advanced auto so stuff like you

Big box stores are a crap shoot anymore. Do you have a Rural King near you? That might be your best bet anymore.

I like Rural King... maybe too much.

I also like Blaines Farm and Fleet.

I also seem to loose myself a bit while traveling in the accessories section of a decent truck stop. I think they may even have what youre looking for.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
Around here, there's Autozones, Oreilly's, Napa, and Masters. Autozone and Oreillys are probably the best for cool/useful random crap.

I found a nice little swiveling 1/4"drive ratchet at the Autozone. The Oreillys has a fast orange laundry detergent I have never seen anywhere else that actually works great!

Crapshoot is right. There's a few big box stores in my area, and stuff like floormats and "help" section vary greatly.

I have found myself doing scavenger hunts for niche stuff.

Internet.

Local places either stock garbage quality stuff for accessories, or they just don't quite have what I'm looking for.

Masters, Blain, Rural King. Never heard of them. I picked up a $6, 3.25” mirror from auto zone but am taking it back on principal. The I couldn’t tell through the packaging, but it was a cheapo plastic mirror. Guess I’ll have to find one online.

the grey-t escape
I know some of y’all aint fans of rock auto, but Ive found quite a few things there. Everything on the escape came from rock auto. Grille guard, tube steps, vent visors, trailer hitch and the set of steel wheels (that Ive yet to put tires on) . As far as a “store” you can visit in person, either rural king or the automotive section at meijers. Beware though, the china made spot mirrors lose the inside coating after about a year.

Between Napa, Oreilly and 2 or 3 autozones, none will have the same brand of those sticky mirror things. Results will vary, but sometimes just not crappy enough to work can be found.

Nobody mentioned Big R or Menards yet, but a lot of times the farm stores have a good selection of automotive accessories. But I use the internet and rockauto a lot since its the same parts for usually a lot less, if you know what you are looking for.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Most stuff on the internet is garbage too unless youre willing to pay a stupid amount lol

Also, depending on what youre looking for, dont look past truck stops, espicially for electronic stuff.
