Where do the grounds go?

There are three grounds that are bolted to the body on the passenger side behind the kick panel. I traced a positive short to the one with the white stripe. Wiring diagrams only give me what color a wire is and not where it goes, not helpful when all the grounds are either black or black with white stripes. Can anyone tell me what they go to? Longshot question, thanks for any help. 2000 Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0

This is from a different ranger forum for a 1999 ranger. Not sure if this applies to a 2000 but it's worth a shot to take a look.

There are 6 locations to check though
Battery negative terminal, never assume, lol
Starter motor bolt, this should be the other end of the battery cable
Head to firewall ground strap, computer and dash ground
Block to Frame ground strap, tail light ground, also fuel pump/gauge in some
Battery to Rad support, usually a smaller 2nd wire on battery terminal, this is for head lights.
Rad support to fender well

I don’t think that’s what he is asking for. He sees a ground termination point with 3 wires coming to it and wants to know where this 3 wires are coming from and what circuits they serve.

Best I can say is find the EVTM for that truck and take it from there. Or....

Disconnect one of those wires and tape the end so it doesn’t touch anything. Then find out what doesn’t work or figure out if that affected the problem you’re having. If that was the wrong one, put it back and do the same to another. Repeat as necessary.

Ebay yep. I bought one for my 93 in 2006 and another for my 96 just last summer, both on ebay
Both were full Ford manuals (actually both for all models both cars and trucks) on CD/DVD, one stamped and branded Ford, the later one I'm not sure
and both were under and just over $10
