Where can i purchase exhaust manifold bolts???

Can anyone direct me where I can purchase 6x new exhaust manifold bolts for my 89 xlt 2.9? I finally got the truck repainted (myself, in my garage) and put everything back together and was going to get it re-registered/inspected for the state inspection to renew my registration but I was told it has an exhaust leak and would not pass Texas emissions.

I remembered I had a missing or broken exhaust manifold bolt, so I'm in the process of removing all x6 broken bolts to replace the exhaust manifold/gasket, but I CANNOT for the life of me find new bolts. I looked everywhere online and nothing.


Is this a dealer item? or some speciality place?

Any help is greatly apprecaited. Also any tips on how to remove the old broken bolts. I'm using a tap/drill bits to slowly chisel them out of there, but may have to use a torch to heat them and try to haggle them out.

all to replace a damn gasket! lol

Parts store. I think the are 8x1.25 thread, so any of the stud and nut kits will work. They just won't list as a direct fit because the originals were bolts.

I just used regular old grade 5 bolts of the correct thread and lengths which I determined through comparison.

I think I put a washer on each one too, I forget.

This was on my '94 and it was awhile ago, so...

Ok cool... I was thinking of doing that last resort was hitting the hardware store and hitting the nut/bolt section for grade 8 bolts or grade 5 or whatever... or hell even some all-thread lol.

I'm kinda surprised the new (passenger) side exhaust manifold I purchased didn't come with the exhaust manifold bolts. It comes with a new gasket and two flange bots to connect to the y-pipe. This was after looking at pretty much every reputable online parts store and local auto part stores.

I appreciate the input everyone. i'm sure to get all these bolts off eventually...

I got all of mine at my local Ace Hardware, and used plenty of Anti-Seize compound on the threads.

Ok... finally (after several broken drill bits and broken bolt extractors) I've gotten all the old rusted molden in exhaust manifold bolts out.

For those that went to the hardware store to get replacement bolts... any Grade 5 bolts will hold up fine against heat?


I plan to just use a bolt and put a washer/nut on the end to hold it in place. Just wanted to see if Grade 5 vs Grade 8 were more heat resistant?

I plan to anit-seize the sh!t out of them, just in case I have to replace anything in the future.

They're going to be metric, so they'll be grade 10.9

Ace hardware has flanged metric 10.9 8x1.25 bolts which is what you'll need.

No, because they don’t exist.
Class 8.8 or 10.9 should be fine.
