What's this hose going to my airbox?

Anyone happen to know what this hose in the back of my airbox is? Looks almost like wire loom but it looks like it just lets air from under the hood into the airbox? Mine leads to nothing and is brittle and cracked. I'd like to just plug the hole in the airbox it to keep mice out but I wanted to check with ya'll what its for first.

doesn’t appear that it does. Can’t find any unoccupied holes it would go in. Does anyone else have this tube at the back of their air filter box?

i actuallyjust removed it and surprisingly enough it has a part number: e67e-9f765-aa

a google search didn’t show any matches for me though

Ill look on my 87 tomorrow. But i could of sworn it hooked onto the blower motor or somewhere thereabouts...guessing for filtered cabin air? I dont know.

This tube leads into the air box under the filter so it’s on the dirty air side of the filter. It’s feeding air into the intake but I don’t really understand why.

Air filter box will get fresh air from in front of the Rad support, i.e. cold air intake

So that hose runs forward to rad support and there will be a hole it attaches to, it does have a plate on the other side that prevents water/bugs, ect.......from coming straight in

It may/should also have a pre-heated air valve before it gets to rad support
When engine is cold the air valve opens and pulls in air from around the exhaust manifold on that side, pre-heated air, lol
This part often gets removed and lost over the years
Helps engine warm up faster

Interesting, that ebay listing you found is definitely the part in question. My hose is the same length as the one in the photo on the listing and it could only reach half way to the radiator at most. It barely makes it past the air box actually. My air box has the valve that switches between the hose going to the exhaust manifold and the main hose that goes to the radiator. This smaller third hose that goes from the back of the air box and just ends right next to the air box seems useless and random. It’s definitely got me confused.

So there are TWO hose that size on the air box?
That would be odd

Nope only one that size, then there is the larger one going to the exhaust manifold and the even larger odd shaped one going to the grill of the truck.
