I have an 01 5.0 in my truck and it has a m5r2 stick behind it. I was wondering what the difference in timing is between the stick and the auto since i have an auto ECU. I have a sniper special forces tuner and can make the adjustments easily. The truck is running good and starts up great but doesnt feel as powerful as it should. Also, it surges at after idling for a while and acts really loaded up and sometimes bucks while going up a hill at partial throttle, the minute i increase throttle it accelerates no issue. and when it bucks it is not bogging and slowing down, it goes like there is no incline at all then misses and as soon as i push the gas a little more it goes away. I am going to check the TPS tomorrow even though it is new but i am still curious how far off the timing may be.

If you're talking about Mustang A9P/A9L type stuff, the auto ECU has about 10degrees mare advance at about 1600rpm, where the advance begins later on the A9L, about 2600.
These are ballpark figures, totally off the top of my head. Google will give specifics.
Short version: Auto ECU adds advance sooner.
