the dome light switch is in the lock, replacing the lock will replace the switch.... so most likely.... it is also quite very likely that just lubing it will fix it.
should i spray wd40 into my driver side and passenger side key holes on the outside ?

Thank You for your answer i had a feeling that the door ajar switch also controls the dome lights turning off and on. Thats why my dome lights would not turn off because my door ajar switch wore out and went bad

WD40 is really good at displacing water - that's what the WD stands for Water Displacement.... anyhow it attracts dirt and dust like no get out. PB Blaster or some other lubricant that isn't just a penetrating oil would be a better choice.

any Cleaner/Lubricant/Preservative will work "Gun Oil" or "needle gun" (the stuff I linked) or even the stuff in the auto section made by lucas.... just trying to dissuade you from using the most common household name spray stuff (WD40) because that one will pull dust and dirt in and gunk it up quite quickly.

i dont agree about the wd40 unless your in a dusty enviroment. it cleans stuff out and dries stuff out and makes it worse over time unless you add real lube.

i use it more as a detergent then a lube...and never as a long term lube. because its not a long term lube.

the lucas C L P will draw dirt...but is by far the best throttle body and door lock/switch cleaner i have used. i use it on tensioners now regularly. quality product.

when i say throttle body i am talking about compound external linkage like the ranger and 300 6 and windsor f series engines

The dome light on my '90 started out not working with the passenger side door a couple years ago but worked with the drivers side until earlier this year, I replaced the drivers side switch and still nothing, works with the headlight switch... even simple systems stop working sometimes :)
