neither compare to an actual shop manual for your particular vehicle.
that being said, Chiltons would get the nod if i had to choose between it and Haynes.

Chiltons and Haynes both have big flaws... Missing info, ignoring stuff, or giving the wrong freakin' pictures...
Having both is the best option, but there are better options all together.

AllData is good I have heard.

I have a Bentley shop manual for my VW Golf, but I havn't heard of one for the Rangers... Its freakin' awesome.

Ok. Thanks for the info. As I mentioned earlier, today's payday so tryin to make a list of things to buy. So I guess I'll pick up the Haynes from vatozone, but I have no idea where to find a Chiltons.

The manual in my link? It's buy it now or best offer - you can make them on offer on it, or buy it now for 50 bucks. JUST the electrical is at least $25 from Helm Inc. If I had an '86 I would buy that dealer manual and not even think twice about spending $57 for the manual inc shipping. I bought a fraction of that for my '93 Tempo for $50 and it has paid for itself times over. The thing I hate about Chiltons or Haynes is that they try to cover to wide range of years and you don't get the indepth details like you do in the vehicle specific manuals.

I use the Haynes and Chilton. usually I don't grab either one... Lol. But having both is good. Unless you can get a dealer option.

For my b2 I have 4 books for. Haynes and Chilton on the b2, same thing on the ex for the motor. But I also have an a4ld service manual by another company, and I have a t/case book to.
