I have acquired a '92 Ranger 2wd regular cab/short bed 4.0 automatic. It isn't a truck I want to keep, but I have no clue what to ask for it. It has 142,xxx miles. The body is in good shape and the interior looks new.

Any ideas?

Probably a good estimate. There are a lot of variables though like working AC, XL or XLT or STX, color (dreaded red interior), how's it run, tires/wheels.
I was looking for a nice 2nd gen with a 4.0 and rust free body earlier in the year and just couldn't find one at a reasonable price, which I consider to be under 2K. Your area may be different though. Do a Craigs list search in your area and see what's out there.

Body is in good shape. No rust or dents, but the normal scratch here or there. The exterior is blue with gray interior.

Punch the year and model in craigs list and go a little lower than the average for a quick sale.

I'd love to have that as a daily driver, but I'm too far away. Remember, a 4.0 regular cab with a shortbed and 2wd is not a common combination, and is a good combo if someone wants a quick Ranger. Ask more than what the 4 bangers are selling for.

I think it should go about $1500. If you're not in a big hurry start at $2000 on Craig's list. 6 months ago I'd have bought it for 1500 if you were in the area and by now it would be 4x4 :D
