Unfortunatly i am going to have to sell my 99 xlt 4wd ranger. its been a good truck but its an extra vehicle and i need to buckled down i'm getting married and need to pay for some things. what would be a realistic asking price for it. it has a rust issue under the truck. i por-15 it but its still causing issues. one issue is the transmission houing has corroded where it hooks up to the engine and has a atf fluid leak. everything else works on it new power steering hoses, and brake lines it has 31's and nice wagon wheels on it. what would you guys think a good asking price is for it considering the transmission issue. and by the way it only has 45k miles on it.

There's a lot of details you left out in terms of features, options, etc. Is it regular cab? 2 door supercab? 4 door supercab? A/C? Power options? Cruise? A loaded XLT (with low miles) nets 4500 trade in value, private party value (loaded with low miles) is 7000+. Granted, with the transmission corrosion/leak it will probably be harder to get that amount.

Personally, if I were looking to buy it and it were loaded I'd probably offer $3500-$4500 as is. With the transmission fixed I'd probably offer $6500.

well its loaded a/c 4x4 extended cab comes with a leer cap and good tread on tires so 4500 sounds about right. i'll miss it though...

Put it up for 5500 and see what offers you get, when someone wants to deal play the haggle game with them, its not about what they spend. As long as they think they are paying exactly what tehy wanna pay. everyone wants to haggle, its nature so when you price it like I said leave plenty of room to come down and still get what you want. If you need a deal closer and someone is wishy washy, tell them "If you wanna take it today I will come down another 500" By leaving yourself some cushion you can do this without actually losing any money.
