Hello with the help of the guys here decided on replacing my whole ac system but ran into an issue on figuring out what compressor i need on rock auto it lists an fs10, sd709, or an fs6 and i would love to compare my old one but the previous owner removed it lol or if anyone knows of an all around kit to replace all the components of the ac system on a 1990 ranger with the 2.9 that would be appreciated

Compare what you have to an online parts resource that has *pictures*. Rock Auto is what I use

The SD709 says for dealer installed AC. I'd say if you have the factory style button on the dash it doesn't apply.

The FS6 uses a v-belt.
The FS10 uses a micro-v (serpentine) belt.

So what style belt is on your engine?

I believe its a v belt since every component has it’s own belt

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I don't understand replacing" the whole a/c system". What's wrong with it? If you had a compressor grenade the compressor and receiver dryer should be replaced and everything else should be throroughly flushed. If you have a freon leak charge it up with some dye, locate the actual leak and fix it.

Replace the condenser. The passages in R134 type condensers are much smaller. Since the system started out R12, the replacement may be a R134-type. We don't flush R134 condensers because of the small passages.

Replace every O ring. Not a bad idea to replace all the rubber hoses, since they are a few decades old.

If the compressor grenaded and there is black death everywhere, remove the orifice tube and blow flush solvent through it.

<edit>
Through the evaporator core, not the orifice tube. That should be replaced...

That makes sense. I never understood leaving the a/c ports open to the air instead of capping them.

I didn't leave any ports to be open...:cool: Only thing I have left is the button on the dash. I need to use it for something fun one day. Thinking a NOS controller...
