What transmission can I buy for my replacement on my 96 ranger?

I found this information on TRS forums. so as long as I find the part 4R44E from a 1995-2000 3.0 ranger, than I can swap it into my 96 which needs a new tranny? Thanks for any help or tips. it is much appreciated.

Yes. HAS to be from a 3.0 though

ok, im pretty sure all 4r44e are for 3.0s, the 5r55e is for 4.0s. So there would never be a case were a 4r44e would be used for anything but a 3.0, correct me if wrong. im just trying to understand!

I believe the 4R44E would have been used behind 4 cylinder trucks too but it would have a different bellhousing.

Would I need any other parts to purchase If I know only the transmission needs replaced (from diagnostic report from ford dealership)
