The Bronco II in question has been V8 swapped in 2wd form for about 20 years. Now converting to 4wd and already have the M5ODR2 installed, tight fit! The tranny came with a bw1356 bolted to it and it is clear that will not fit, way too wide. I know that a np205 would fit but really don't want the cast iron weight. I was at the junk yard looking at a bw4406 today but doesn't appear to be any narrower than the 1356, really difficult to get an accurate measurement. Are there any other options the anyone actually has evidence of working? I would really love to see pictures so I know what I am getting into.

Thanks

205 isn’t a drop in on a R2, if you go that route let me know.

Wagoneers had a narrow NP-208, supposedly you can put the Ford 208 output stuff on it to get a ford speedo drive.

Check out @deathbypsi BII, I not sure what he has but he has a couple swaps.

Personally I am happy with my 205.

I have seen pictures that the 205 requires a notch in the extension housing correct?

Correction, I should have looked at the TCase we have more thoroughly. It is a bw1345

Yes, the NP205 is a brute, but it fits without cuts and offsets in my Ranger. I tried the 1356 :( too. Been very happy with the 205 for several years.

Ok the answer seems obvious, if I can find a reasonably priced 205 near me I should go that way and build an additional cross member to support it.
