What sort of gear do you always carry in your truck?

My credo
Giving my truck more money than it deserves.
If it's winter then I also take a shovel and a windshield scraper.
Oh jeez, I didn't even think about all the extra junk I carry for the winter.

I keep a socket set, air pump, jumper cables, jack and stands, oil drain pan, chain, water, oil, P/S fluid, anti freeze, ratchet straps, trans fluid and a couple bottles of dry gas. In winter the only extra is the snow brush but the hydraulic jack comes out and I use the factory bottle jack if needed.

Jack stands? Do you plan on changing your transmission on the side of the road lol
I've been crushed once, it will not happen again if I can prevent it. They are all in a small case with the jack so no biggie.

You may want to be under a vehicle with no stand but I refuse to. Call me perinoid if you wish but I got lucky once I'm not pushing my luck. I also use my truck often as a mobile repair vehicle for my family so safety first.

Don't really carry anything anymore, I work 4 miles from home, if the truck dies between home and work or vise versa, that's what I pay $7/mo for on my insurance premium for towing LOL. I really don't go anywhere anymore so no need to carry a truck full of crap I'll never use. I do throw the tire chains in during the winter months, weather hear in Idaho can change quick...and if I'm in the Ranger chances are I'll need the chains to get back up on the bench north of town to get home. If I have to chain up to go to work, I have 2 4 wheel drives, but on the occasion I'm in town in the Ranger in the winter tire chains are a great thing to have, I got stuck in my 84 Ranger once on the hill coming home about 20 years ago, won't do that again. As for tools I really don't carry anything anymore, most likely its something I couldn't fix anyhow without having to have parts, and knowing how working on these trucks is, its nothing I'm going to be able to fix on the side of the road without dismantling 1/2 the truck anyways...thanks Ford for your horrible engineering.
