Yes, a book like that. I bought the tri-axle gooseneck to haul my notebook, not the dozer as some people think.

The computer we use for our home entertainment system has an nvidia 7600 and a sound card, which I forget what it is. It's a Gateway from 2005 and has 3 hard drives filled with movies and music, plus netflix, of course. It's an AMD 64 2 core and we have to leave the sides off so it doesn't overheat, but it drives a projector, a stack of amps going to Kicker speakers all over the place and a 500W sub. It's old, but it makes movies and music a physical experience. When T-rex roars, you're looking into a mouth with 6" teeth and the bricks are shaking.

But the old gateway isn't good for anything else, really. It can't think fast enough for real processing.

Is currently a MacBook Core 2 Duo. I can't really use it like the G5 which recently lost the power supply and the processors.

I used to build my own and the last one was an unlocked Barton core AMD 1.8Ghz .

Got tired of the keeping up with the pack so I now keep a watchful eye out on trash day and run what I find. My now box is a 2.4G P4 with only 1G of DDR400 memory. Running XP and Linux when I want to get geeky. When I find another better one , it goes on Craigslist with a fresh wipe/install for $50 and I debug or virus the new one and im good for another year or so..

The traveler is a 10.1" Netbook = Dell Latitude 2120/n550 dual core/2gb/240gb solid state Win7 pro

File server is a Desktop I built = 09 tech Gigabyte g31m /intel e5200/4gb/250gb+2tb/GeForce 9800GTX Win7 pro

Wife uses her 10.1" Netbook = Dell Latitude 2120/n550 dual/2gb/500gb Win7 Pro

TV computer for streaming is a 14" laptop = Dell e6420 i3/4gb/500gb Win7 Ult

Shop Computer is a an ancient HP 15" laptop. Maybe 8 years? runs XP. Just a jukebox.

I do keep an older Gateway laptop p3 800/256/8mb vid/Win98se for my oooooooooold games.

There are a few other computers laying around not being used for anything.
