What is the weirdest engine you've seen in a ranger?

I found a vehicle powered by GRASS, and no, it's NOT pulled by a horse !!!

Also, the "exhaust" can be used to grow more fuel, ie...grass.
I guess that makes this a "perpetual motion vehicle", one that not only makes power, but produces it's own fuel.

Because the 3.0 was the American attempt of "refining" the 2.9 into a bloated, cast iron paperweight that's even fussier on maintainence due to a sh*tty head design.

The 3.0 was a clean sheet design intended to be an inexpensive ICE power source for the Taurus platform. I remember when info first came out about them, and I was amazed that Ford would produce a brand new 2-valve, cast iron block and head pushrod engine when engine tech was starting to advance rapidly. But it made sense - if you're not going to bother with multivalve design for better economy, the cylinder has no idea what opens the valves and pushrods are fine for that rpm. The Vulcan is a smooth engine with appropriate power for what it was intended, and I'm quite happy with mine. The Cologne with it's antiquated valve train was not going to be appropriate in the new car, while the Vulcan got Ford's newer and well sorted out rocker design. The only problem with the Vulcan heads was with the seats, which was a manufacturing issue for a time.

I did like the V4, and would like to see someone put one in a early 2WD Ranger.

Their badass as hell.

yes, Ive seen a flathead six funk conversion on a 8N. A 300 would be really cool. seen a few flathead V8 conversions and 1 2N with a dual exhaust manifold and pipes on the stock 4 cyl.

I seen a 300 in one at threshers about 5 years ago. Looked really at home nestled under that hood. I have found a few pokin around online too. Havent seen a flathead six one
