What is the shortest tire that can be mounted on a 15x7 rim?

Preferably Michelin brand, a passenger tire, but pickup truck worthy.

On a 15 inch wheel I think you can go as low as a 50 or 60 series

Let’s say I wanted a low riding Ranger, closer to the early 90’s 2wd’s ride heights.

Start by checking Tire Rack and 1010 Tire to see what sizes are available and will fit your rim width. Keep in mind, you'll be changing diameter and that will affect your speedometer and odometer. There are tire size calculator apps out there to help figure that out. I'm pretty sure 1010 tire has one. Compare more than one site to make sure the numbers match up since some calculators can be off.

EDIT: Also make sure the load rating matches what your truck can carry as well. Other wise, if you load it up, your tires could be squirming underneath you from being over loaded, plus it's bad to over load tires since it will eventually lead to tire failure.

I know they used to make a 13x7 "reversed" wheel, they looked dumb then, but it also reminds me of some of these big trucks with 15" wide rims with Street tires stretched to the limit.

The 'yota is from the 90s, the Chevy is current.

Well, I was just thinking that a shorter, but all-season tire would give the truck a lower ride height and be less wheel for the drivetrain to turn, potentially causing slower and maybe even less wear of parts throughout the entire drive train and maybe slightly higher mpg’s and maybe less wind noise on the highway. Also, I see the wheel configuration on these new trucks, it’s less sidewall, more rim.

go to Tirerack.com

select tires by size, try 165-45-15,,,there are none, it will ask : see all 15" tire sizes.

your 7" wheels are 177.8mm wide, tire will need to be wider than that.
pick a size, select a specific tire, hit specs to see overall size , rim width, load rating.

try 195-45/15 its only 22" tall. but,,,, it has a load rating of only 937 lbs!!! the shorter the sidewall, the lower the load rating will be.
happy shopping.

I've deleted a bunch of posts because they weren't on topic and starting to get toxic. Please behave better. In other words, answer the question without giving a demeaning opinion or swearing.

Unless you really have your heart set on a "retro" tread pattern that's going to suck in the rain (ie pretty much anything available in 235/60r15, you'll have a much wider selection if you stick with 225/70r15. If you want a Michelin brand, check out the Uniroyal Laredo Cross Country Tour. They're highly rated and are $92 a pop on Amazon right now.

You can get a 195/45R15 at TireRack. It's not a Michelin brand, but you can put it on a truck.

I have 15x7s on the front of my '87 and I run 205/60-15s. They're pretty short but fit the wheel really good.

I'm running Bassett DOT dirt track/NASCAR 15X8 with 225-40-15 and it looks pretty good after a 3" front and 2.5" rear drop. Slight forward biased rake.

The numbers can help a bit to figure things like that
your 225 = tire tread width, and the 40 = % of width for height

Don't forget the 225 is in metric.
