Well my speedo cable seems to be acting up this winter and since I do not work on vehicles in the cold I need a work around till spring. It has always, since I have owned it, bounced from 15 mph and below but now it has gotten to the point it is now unreliable up higher. I tried google maps but the response of the speedo on it seems a bit laggy for my liking so my question is:

What GPS speedometer for your phone have you found that seems to work best?

At most I drive 1,500 miles in the winter so a simple work around is the way to go till spring.

Waze seems to be fairly reliable.

do you do a lot of driving where you need to go an exact speed or can you just follow the flow/feel the road out. Be easier then having your phone put all the time.

I have about 3 miles north that many get stopped for speeding and about 8 miles south that you need to go the speed limit or you get stopped as you pass the state police barracks. Side roads I can stick pretty close to the speed limit by feel but once I hit our 45-50 mph zones, and where my speedo is bouncing between 40-60, is where everyone gets stopped. It is a known hangout for the police to radar throughout those sections.

I agree with Roert42. Waze seems to be pretty spot on and will warn you if you are going over the speed limit.

Currently giving Digihud a try. It updates about 3 times to Google maps 1 update and displays speeds as low as 1mph where maps won't register till 8mph. I just need to pass a radar speed sign.

Just keep in mind that radar speed signs aren't held to the same calibration requirements that radar guns are. There can be some error. So far, I've found them to be pretty spot on but there is that potential.

Oh now that reminds me that on my way into the city today there was a SUV stopped on that north stretch I mentioned.

As long as I'm with in 3 mph I'll be ok but my speedo is anywhere between dead on to 12 over. I've yet to see it under but it bounces around so I can't trust it. When I noticed it off it said I was doing 60 or so and I knew I was around 45-50.

I went the slowest 85 MPH I have ever been today. In 5th pulling 1300-1400 rpms my speedo was saying 80-85 bouncing. :3gears: :icon_rofl:
