When I did the muriatic acid wash on mine I dumped about a coffee can full of old nuts and bolts into the tank and rolled it around. I've always used nuts or something with sharp edges. Figured that would work better than round objects. Actually used gravel one time, lol

Is the plastic cap on the front of the tank necessary? I couldn't find a brand new 14.5 gallon tank for the front so I replaced it with a 17 gallon tank although I couldn't get that plastic piece on the outside of the tank, it's not gonna cause any issues down the road is it?

Nah leave it off. It's just to keep road debris from hitting the front of the tank and also to hold in road debris that will create rust. Basically it's going to leak for some reason, at some point.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
I just get giant plastic tanks and make it work
