What does Ford think the Maverick is for?

Biggest parts supplier around here had a fleet of 30/40 Hyundai eleantras? I think. Compact Hyundai sedan.

Last time I drove by their warehouse I saw a fleet of grey mavericks sitting there waiting to get repainted in the company colors.

As an aviation enthusiast it pains me to learn Ford wasted such an awesome name on another escape based crossover...

Haha I know, right? I was fortunate enough to meet and work for Robert Odegaard during my senior design project at school. He started out in cropdusting and ended up restoring warbirds and racing airplanes. Among them were three Super Corsairs. When we went to his shop he was in the process of restoring his third one he eventually crashed and died in. The R-4360 engine was sitting on its end on a pallet, and it's tough to get an appreciation for the size of those things until you're standing next to it out of the plane. I had to hide my stiffy.

I wouldn't say I'm big into aviation, but that's what made me somewhat interested. He was a real cool guy and I'm sorry I wasn't able to get to know him better. He was a tinkerer and the project we worked on was a compact portable vertical wind turbine he built with the idea it could be used to power villages in Africa and such. He built a prototype on a swather cart and tested it by pulling it back and forth down the runway behind his pickup. He owned a small jet and would fly to a town 2 hrs. drive away for coffee on Saturday mornings because he liked the place, and bring his shop guys and friends with.

Totally off topic but the Corsair reference brought back some good memories.

we went to the mooney plant, back when i was in a&p school. that was super cool and it was interesting to see their testing machine for the main wing spar. they put it in the machine and it pulled down the middle to however many tons to make sure it doesn't crack or break.

I love my F-150 but I think I probably should have got the extended cab F-250 with the 7.3 instead that I had been considering at the time

Personally i wish i could find a clean 6.9 bullnose with a 4sp for a decent price

So bull nose was 1980-87 I think, then was brick nose to like 92 then areo nose to 96 for the 150 and 98 for the 250-550

might be off by a year here or there but that’s roughly it

OBS started off among the powerstroke crowd to cut the difference between superduty and 94.5-97 7.3 PSD's. Its kinda been adopted for all 92-96/7 trucks but really if you think about it anything older then the current gens could he an OBS

And now the nose of the new HD's are in the stratosphere. I guess because of such a high hood, more instances of running over small children are happening.

i read they went to the large front ends to allow for more crumple room in accidents. i know my titan has the new high front end and there is so much dead space behind the grill.

I used to be hopeful looking under the hood of trucks. Always hoped that the engine would be so easy to work on, but they still cram half the engine under the dash.

I think it has to do with the US adopting the europeon style pedestrian crash standards
