Group I run with "Overland Nashville" hosted their toy drive today. I was asked to lead a short ride then lead them over to Mill Creek Brewery for the toy drive. At the event I got to put rhe Ranger up on a RTI ramp. I was surprised at how well it done considering it just has a puck spacer and a add a leaf. It scored a 312 and a Tacoma with Stage 2 Icons and aftermarket control arms only scored a 316. Plus I beat the pants off a Sequoia with some mods haha he was only 280 something haha. But to take it into perspective a bit. The winner for the 2nd year in a row was my friend Josh in his 4runner. He scored a 630 something. This was the IFS class. The strait axle class was up in the 700s.

Wonder what a stock TTB Ranger does? I'm sure it's out there somewhere...

I was the only Ranger at the event. I had several people ask me how I liked it and of course I told them how much I love it. Hopefully inspired some Yota and Nissan folks to swap out. That being said I'd loved to have seen a TTB on th ramp.

A TTB era Ranger would have WAY more frame flex that's for sure :) I have to put a bungee cord over the lid of my toolbox on the '90 since when it flexes one way the latches open and the lid pops up...

After the cooling system stuff today I had to mop the shop floor, was trying not to but I got coolant everywhere rolled it forward twice to keep my feet out of it and I still ended up spreading it everywhere... since it's been a while the water in the bucket was gross...

My shop is a disaster, sure I have around 1.5 bays open right now but one bay is solid and annoying me... but that's for a reason, the loft will be started in about a week and a half! Inlaws are coming up and I'm hoping to at least get the 8'x20' room made with a roof which will let me get a bunch of stuff out of the way... talked to a contractor friend yesterday and I get to barter for some things, he's gonna order me a 6x10x16' beam for the clear span portion and I might be able to get some lumber from him... He has several small engine equipment he wants to get running to sell so I'll do that for him, sounds like a reasonable trade to me

Yep, digital read out

After I got home I kept tinkering on my brothers pocket knife... it's a Kershaw Leek I think (the bigger of the Ken Onion models) that fell out of his pocket while on a tractor and later he found it with the tractor tiller which kinda screwed it up to say the least :), the handle scales were bent to heck and the stainless under it was tweaked, pocket clip broken off, two screws pulled out and one sheared etc... I spent some time with the arbor press and got everything pretty good but didn't have any 2mm screws so took it to Kershaw to sharpen and stuff and they put on a new pocket clip and new screws which was good and all but the threads in the handle scale were stripped when doing final tweaks at home so I took a 3/8" set screw with cupped tip and put that in the arbor press against the scale to shrink the metal around the threads. That worked for the most part, 2 of 3 hold tension good I'm going to rely on blue loctite for the third... gonna give it back to him for christmas with the two extras I bought, annoyingly they don't make any good farmer colors, everything will blend into the weeds, I a few years ago they had a bright yellow which was best but got bright orange this time...

Tonight I started working on clearing out the shop more, the week after Christmas the inlaws from CA are coming up and the father in law is going to help me build a loft in the shop which is MUCH needed... gotta get things cleared out in that area, getting close but have a lot to do in the next couple weekends. I've dropped my expectations down to more reasonable so I'm less worried :)
Just a thought from an old fart who has been tinkering with stuff for the better part of 55 years…

I’ve salvaged a lot of things like you’re talking about with that knife, where you can only get one or two threads to hold. Bang it around a little bit and it’ll be in pieces again.

What I did 55 years ago and I did again last week, is once I have it kind of screwed together right, I pull out the screws and put in a drop of superglue, and put the screws back in. If it twists or something is gonna strip out the screw, it will probably still fail. But most times the repeat failure is because the screw starts to back out and there’s not enough to hold.

I do it all the time with dollar store reading glasses…

My two cents, hope it helps

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
I started working on a built in bench in the closet to hide the plumbing and ductwork for the new laundry room.

The front is made of knotty white cedar tongue and groove planks, the seating surface is going to acacia, the walls are going to be the same cedar planks, and the trim will either be maple or walnut.

The wife is out of town on business until Sunday. She called today and said there was a package delivered and that I should open it. She also said she has a favor to ask of me....

The rest should be clear....

My credo
the grey-t escape
went out for some last minute shopping, needed a few other things that Id rather buy now than during the holiday break. Stopped at tsc for some pine shavings (chicken house) saw a nice bird feeder at the clearance area , thought “why not”- $5. of course grabbed a 35# bag of bird seed. next was harbour freight, rural king, meijers, got gas washed my escape & headed home. Wrapped my last minute gift , had dinner then went out to the garage to put some of the other stuff away. went looking for the bird feeder & its no where to be found. no tsc bag even. damn. got to thinking about it & the cart I used was one of those flatbed stlye you can easily load bedding, feed on. Had a small basket on the back. And thats where I put the bird feeder, in the bag-with the receipt. and its after 7. they closed at 7. Rural king has similar carts & I picked up 2 40# bags of chicken feed & $120+ worth of heavy carheart shirts for work wear. It just so happened the rural king cart had its small basket broke off so I had to carry the bag of shirts. Good thing I guess, Id rather lose a $5 bird feeder than over $100 in carheart shirts! Did happen to have a older bird feeder on hand. guess thats good or Id be mixing bird seed in with the chicken feed.
