I thought I loaned it to YOU!

Hub tent, you mean a YERT? Comes with a carabao-oxen included?

Waiting for the new evap coil & the f150 to have the whole dashboard pulled & replaced. The labor is 75% of the job. Sheesh.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
No. Hub tents, such as Gazelle and Magellan, are made with the poles already installed. The poles are attached to hubs in the center of each wall panel. To set up, you merely unfold the tent. Then grab a hub and give it a quick, sharp yank. This inverts the hub and puts tension on the poles. Repeat for the other walls and then the roof. I can open up my Gazelle in less than a minute if I try.

Yes... those hub tents are pretty slick. I would think a 6 person quality hub tent is gonna be spendy.
Even a 4 person hub tent is at least $300 from what I can see… a bit much for the level I’m at right now.

Just remember, the bigger the tent, the more space it's going to take up. If that isn't a concern, the hub tent snoranger mentioned is a good option. They take up about the same amount of room as a folding canopy, just so you have an idea on reference.

The benefit of a bigger tent, is they also tent to have more head room. Some of them, even 6-person models can be tall enough to stand in. Just remember, the number they quote is for all those people, not including their gear and clothes. So, half it so people have room for their junk. That is why I have three 4-person tents.

The above is why I don't lend stuff out to people. Crap like that happens and they never tell you or they just "forget" to ever give it back.
Yep… I generally don’t lend out stuff, I figured “it’s a tent, what’s the worst that he can do to it”

I was wrong. Oh well, I learned my lesson.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Worked, did groceries, ordered a little "tactical" sling bag, and added more stuff to my 'apocalypse box"

20240802_142249.jpg

5 more candles, some cans of ravioli, lighters, and a bottle each of isopropyl and hydro-peroxide.

The candles are an extremely good deal.

1.25 each at dollar general and they must burn for at least 40 hours. Unscented.. but.. scent is unnecessary in the event of a CHUD takeover.

Hit the hobby shop and snagged some more glue, glue bottle tips and 100k weight diff lube for the Summit. Online I put in an order for the ring and pinion and a few other things I wanted R/C related. Almost walked out with another R/C but was a good boy and figured I didn't need a flying quad-copter at the moment. For $60 it was so tempting to have a flying toy for in the house but I figured my cat would hate me because I probably would end up chasing her with it so I just had to walk out after he showed it to me. lol

To preface, for those who don’t know, I am the maintenance guy for a camp and retreat center in rural northeast Iowa.

The VFD for the main sewer lift pump decided to die today… out of nowhere. We don’t have a spare although we probably should. So a new one is on order but we had no sewage, so we got out a spare pump, intended for the new RV sites, and put that in… very sketchily.

The old pump that’s normally in the pit is a 2hp, 3 phase beast.

What we rigged up is a 1hp, 115v pump.
SOMEHOW it pumped the 30+ foot head up to the septic tank farther up the hill (we are in a valley). Despite having half the power and little torque from being single phase.
These two pumps are both made by Liberty Pumps, here in the US. And man do they make a good product. Pricey, but worth every cent. We have tried everything over the years, from cheap Chinese junk to nicer Zoeller brand pumps, and Liberty’s units always are more reliable and last longer.

All of this to say, buy American when you can, you get what you pay for, especially when you’re running something way over its intended use case.

I want to say my tent I currently have is I believe supposed to be a 6-man tent. It’s a cozy 2-person tent in my opinion. If you packed in with no gear like sardines then you could probably squeeze that many in. Mine has poles but they don’t have to be threaded through sleeves, there’s clips to snap on the poles to set it up. It was a more deluxe tent back in the day when I bought it. If/when I replace it, I’ll be looking at a hub tent. I picked up a hub “hunting” blind last year and it’s super nice to set up and take down. Now I just need a good digital camera and some spare time and I can probably get some nice wildlife pictures.

Shopped at Walmart for more camping supplies (again, not able to use my parent’s stuff anymore) and got some propane for the stove and a new cookware set. Still need a sleeping pad…

I bought a 10' x 20' shed. should be done and planted on my property in roughly 3 weeks.

Step 1 of getting my garage cleaned out so I can work on my cars and put the cars in the garage.

Sounds like some deep s***! And wisdom! And patriotism! (Which is easy when you’re number one!)

Traveling for work today, flew to Nashville and drove west to end up in Union City TN, well I was winging it from the airport just heading West in general but unfortunately I chose some signs that said North West instead of South West before I fired up the GPS... 45 minutes in I saw the Welcome to Kentucky sign... LOL, anyway as an aside I have now driven over the two bridges you see in some of the Land between the Lakes pictures! I'm a month off but hey, now I almost feel included :)

I just dried out a couple of tarps, did laundry, and cut the grass.

The string trimmer didn't want to start and flooded. So, I said the heck with it and put it back in the shed. Perhaps I'll try again today.
