Trying to fix a washing machine. Replacing shaft, bearings and seal. But...

The inner drum doesn't want to come out. Supposed to remove a screw, lift the impeller out, then simply "lift the drum out". Yeah. It moves about 1/2". Must be rust on the shaft down below the top mating surface. It's worth putting some time on this. Parts and tools were only $50. That's much better than a new machine.

Got it finished. I had to drive the shaft as far as I could in the "right" direction. Then cut it off below the shoulder. Then drive it out in the wrong direction.

Just took it for a test spin. Nice and quiet again.

If you need some electrical wiring done, I can see about fitting you in somewhere.

I also now have a test meter that will read amps, both AC and DC up to 400a, so I can test draw now on higher amp stuff.

I might take you up on that in the future. I want to install something like Anderson plugs to power things like a tire inflator or a hitch tray mounted winch without needing to pop the hood and use alligator clips to run them.

is that a Maytag? I had to do mine a couple times. I made a “special tool” from some scrap lumber and a bottle jack to remove the basket. It was a PITA.

Whirlpool Cabrio. I lathered up the shaft with grease in case there is ever a "next time" the basket is supposed to just slide off. Rusty shaft was the issue.

Of course, if this lasts another 5 years, it will ne over 15 years old and rusting out in other places. I'll probably buy new.

Went to a local tractor show, learned that one in the next county over is next weekend and their featured brand this year is ford, guess Im loading up next weekend & heading there. Did the front steps today & used same stuff as I did on the back deck last weekend. Added polyurethane after stain/sealer coat dried. Then because this finish will be slippery when wet I added some grit and then more urethane. I didn’t think to get a before picture, just looked like regular treated lumber thats been out in the weather a few years.

Today was a much lighter day. I cleaned and applied 303 to the tarp on the utility trailer, sprayed a canvas tarp with some waterproofing spray, did a little bit more stencil work, attended the motorcycle ralley at the VFW, and it was laundry day.

Back to working on my parents house. Living room sub floor, a few joists, alot of insulation. Not too many pics of that. The back deck was complete redo. 4x4s good tho. More progress then in in pics. Again so much thanks to my gf and older brother. Us 3 do some Hella projects. The gf makes the BEST cut person ever! Give her a chop saw n she good. No skill saw with her tho, she scared of it.

Internet guy came today to look at things, found some stuff and gave me a new modem... hopefully it's not so janky...

Then jumped back on the tractor and mowed stuff, bunch of reed canary grass as much as I normally do and as far as I'll go this year... then put the finish mower on the tractor to try to move cuttings to the side more but that didn't work great... will move to the riding mower tomorrow... The goal is to clear where I'm going to put the tailings from tilling the pond berm peak that's too tall... While the finish mower is on the tractor I mowed the back section of the yard since it's much faster...

Then I drug the boat to the back to drain it which is where things got dumb, for whatever reason I left the Explorer in neutral and it rolled backward and jack knifed and screwed up the already broken surge brake coupler... now for sure I need a new coupler , I was only 90% sure before...

Was supposed to get the Ranger into my friends shop to use the lift to reduce my parts pile but he hurt his shoulder Friday so that went up in flames. It's all good for now but the oil pan is getting really bad and I have a flow of oil coming out from under the truck now. Oil seeps right through the pan itself so it is time to start to throw the parts at it.

So since I had a free day I charged a couple battery's and took out the Summit for some play time. For a little while now I have been hearing a click coming from one of the differentials but it wasn't bad enough to diagnose but today that all changed. I stripped a few teeth off of the ring gear in the front diff. Not a costly fix just annoying to have to tear the whole front end apart to get the bulkhead out to get to the diff. Good thing I have other toys to play with just not a monster truck.

I did go up to my friends house tonight and we sat outside and talked for a few hours and hung out even though we didn't work on my Ranger. One day soon it'll happen.

Found this portable A/C on the side of the road a couple years ago and been threatening to try to fix it since then for some relief in the garage. Installed a piercing valve, dumped a can of dura-cool (wrong stuff I know but I'm cheap and have a dozen cans of the stuff sitting around) into it and guess what? Makes nice cold air.

Found a large branch that fell off of one of the many red oak trees around here from the last hurricane that blew through (I hate when that happens), anyway found my "Chang saw" it's purple! Called a "Pinkway" HA! But it had sooo many amazon 5 star reviews, and for only $146 for 63cc 2 stroke, I had to try it. Comes with a 18" & 20" bar, plus 2 extra chains. 25:1 like all of those china 2 strokes. It hauls the saw dust I'm telling you, but has a drinking problem, just like my Level II.

Tied up to the front, backed it over to the burn pile over hill & dale. Cut it up & poured the diesel on it. The Ranger is a decent off road work truck which gets around the tight spots in & out of the creek. That torque converter kicks in hard at around 1000 rpms, maybe it's the transmission starting to go. Had the same issue on the technical trails off roading on Colorado.

The purple chang saw goes through a liter of gas in 3 minutes. But put up against any other brand, those take a back seat. I would truck this woman's saw out & laugh! Here try this! The thing kicks ass. I'm sure it will turn to liquid like everything else made in china in 2 years, but that thing is something else. And it's purple, gald darn. It's always good for a joke when the work gets to going.
