Happy Birthday. some days it just isn't worth getting out of bed...

I hope that whatever took the sheep out does not affect any other animals or humans.

We had two sheep... and thats the wrinkle.

They are a herd animal, when there is only one they stress thinking they lost their herd since they are all alone and it is hard on them. Soo, now do we try to find another sheep or rehome the one we raised with a bottle?

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Scared a little kid.

Got everybody tucked in and I was tired and decided not to work on the truck. So I fired it up and moved it from under the tree by the garage (Cottonwood that drops sap) to over by the other vehicles.

Came back in the house and heard crying from upstairs. "I heard thunder!"

Its been called a lot of things, never that. :icon_twisted:
Sounds like the truck earned a new name.

I did... nothing. One aircraft has moved out and the next hasn;t moved in, so nothing to do at work. I sat bored at my desk all day Monday and Tuesday. Woke up at 2 am with a headache took something laid back down. Then said s***w it, I'm staying home. By the time I felt like doing anything the evening (daily it seems) thunderstorms were rolling in, so ended up sitting on my butt here all day too. I'll go back in tomorrow, might be bored, but at least I can save that leave for another time.

Rain storms are killing me too. I don’t have a lot left to do before nationals, but a lot a little details, and some paint touchup. Hard to do paint touchup when it’s raining. It’s getting dark though, piece by piece.

We're back from camp. I figured out the picture problem. They're too big, as in the resolution is too high. I'll have to see about changing the camera settings for the future.

I cut the grass between rain. No weedeating or anything like that but knocked down the high stuff so the city wont come charge me 600 bucks for letting it get to long.

I like having my .4 acre yard till its grass cutting time. Than i hate it till i actually start doing it. I like relaxing on the riding mower and cutting once its actually happening.

If i had a spare 20k, i would pour a driveway up to the garage. That would be so nice. But who has 20k for a driveway when we have vehicles to fix

cussed at a zero turn mower.

Back story.. new house, need new mower. A buddy of mine had one sitting in a barn for a few years, he used it until about two years ago when his dad upgraded to a larger mower for the 4 acres of land. The mower is a Toro Z Master Z147 with about 1070 hours on it. He got it free from an uncle that could not get it running several years ago. had some serious rust on the deck which he repaired, him and his dad got it running in about 5 minutes lol. he used it for several years, I remember when he got it and evidently one time when I was visiting he got it out and let me take it for a spin. he sent me the picture of me on it a few days ago. So anyways, it has a Kawasaki fh500V vtwin motor. Once he knew I was looking for a mower, his dad (happy to have a small project drug it out of the barn, powerwashed it, and got it running again. needs a main engine seal and both front tires replaced. rear tires look great, the hydraulic pumps are less than 5 years old, and it mows and cuts great. and it started up on 2 year old gas.... the carb had some issues in that it would be a bear to start when cold.

So I figure, new carb, two new tires, sharpen the blades and I am good. this is not a pretty mower, but it cuts the grass. Buddy broght it over last week. first thing was it did not start. would not even try to fire. this was after a three and a half hour trip from IL, and after he had fired it up and drove it into his truck bed. so we pushed it out of the truck into the yard. cranked it and cranked it, used starting fluid. cussed it out, and the battery went dead from cranking. put the battery on the trickle charger, tried it again the next day. all i got was "thunk" from the starter solenoid. took the battery to Autozone, they tested it, said it was charged but didn't have any cranking amps. New battery, $60. put new battery in. "thunk". well crap. traced out the wiring to the starter, looked good. tried to jump the solenoid, no luck. starter did not even try to turn. went to Amazon, figuring that I was in it for a carburetor at least, ordered a carb, fuel pump, and fuel filter. tossed a starter on the pile. $45 for new carb/ fuel pump/ filter (which also gave me a brand new air filter which I didn't need, as it had a new one on it, but now I got a spare) $45 for a starter. Ordered on Friday night, got the parts late Sunday afternoon. spent some quality time replacing the starter and carb/ fuel pump/ hose and filter. hook the battery up. :"thunk". well s***. cussed it out some more. so far this has been nothing but redneck lawn art for 5 days. getting dark, tired of fighting with it. went to bed.

Went out today after work looked at the thing again. cussed it out again. grabbed my jump pack and tested the starter that I yanked out of it. if spun right over... (note to self and anyone else chasing down intermittent issues, do check the grounds, found a loose ground...) and after fixing the loose ground, it spun right over. Cussed it out again for good measure and causing me so many issues.. spent about 5 minutes priming the new carb and fuel system. fired right up. drove it from the middle of the lawn where it has sat for 5 days to the driveway with its two flat front tires. put two new tire/ wheel assemblies on it. they don't match, but they work. $29 a piece at Lowes. get back on it and now it doesn't move... cussed it out again. check the hydraulic tank.. empty. Go to autozone to get a few quarts of Mobile 1 full synthetic 15w 50 oil (whi8ch is what it uses for the hydraulics) and found out from the lady at the counter that Autozone doesn't carry it, and someone else was in earlier that day for the same stuff, and found that O'Reillys does carry it... so off to O'Reilly's. they had it. $23 for two quarts..

it is now dark, I will mess with the hydraulics tomorrow. cussed it out again just in case the first few times didn't work.

some pictures my friend sent me of when he did the repairs and me on it.View attachment 113359View attachment 113360View attachment 113361View attachment 113362View attachment 113363View attachment 113364

Last Pic is of me on it. Probably taken 10 years ago lol
Cussed at the mower again. One last time.

Had it hauled to a local repair shop a week and a half ago. My hope was that they would fix the drive belt issues and dial in the new carb. they called today... and the mower deck is starting to rust though where my buddy repaired it, engine failed the leak down test and is running on one cylinder (bad coil) at that point with all of the other issues on it they were at $1000 bucks for repair. I figure the coil is about 20 bucks on Amazon, but with the engine failing the leakdown test (it was *just* above the fail level but with the rust and the deck issues, it was time to cut my losses and move on. they still did not get to the point of why the brand new drive belt got chewed up. I am thinking that it was the tensioner/ idler, but with othe other rust, I am done with it. I have enough projects to do on the Ranger and getting the house squared away, so I dug into my savings (deep) and just bought a new effing mower.

The mower shop will remove the carb and battery and they are going to scrap it. so I now will have an extra battery and a new carb which I think will fit on the commercial walk behind.

New mower will be delivered tomorrow, and I will finally get to mow the lawn..

Ask Oliver.
Yeah, don't ask him about getting animals. Especially with his mother around...

Normal work stuff and went to O'Reilly's. Picked up a couple push pins to replace the seal on the top of the grill and a glue kit for my rear view mirror. Get to checkout and the guy asks if I am doing anything fun to my project tonight. I awkwardly look down and say "replacing a seal and gluing on a mirror..."

Pizza Hutt for supper (which I haven't had in forever), Oliver and Mrs made me brownies. Much better night than last night.

Checked on mom’s garden since I planted some stuff in there. Nothing is doing all that well, not sure why. She sent soil samples off last year and followed the instructions for mending the soil but stuff still isn’t doing much. I did throw some sugar snap peas in there a couple weeks ago and both came up, so we’ll see what they do. Also had thrown some corn in, but so far only one has poked up, so I threw a couple more in.

Got my new mower. and since the lawn has not been mowed since early July, I decided that it probably needed it, and used the mower to mow the lawn. probably will need to do it again in a few days as I mowed it at 4.5 inches (highest setting) and while it looks much better, it could probably be mowed at 3.5 inches and look pretty good.

Too pretty to use for cutting grass! Park that one out front to impress the neighbors, and get the old one fixed to cut the grass!

I did mostly after camp stuff. Cleaning and drying gear with some repacking.

Modified the tinder boxes a bit since the middle foot was interfering with the latches when they are stacked.

Tested out a 30 quart 12v refrigerator I bought to make sure it works and to test the amperage draw since I'll need to run wire for a power block in the bed of the 2011. The 2019 already has one back there. The draw was surprisingly low. Only .6 amps on Eco mode but that was on 120 volts. If I figured things right, that should be 6 amps at 12 volts. I do need to test it on MAX yet but I didn't think of it until it was already cooled down.

I also tested the dual fuel stove for proper operation. The main camping equipment boxes do not have enough room in them for the dual fuel. A slimmer, propane stove lives in them.

I also finally broke down and cleaned the brass letter and number stencils that I've been putting off for quite some time. A quart of acetone and whole bunch of nitrile gloves they are clean again.
